The 2nd International Symposium on Green Chemistry: Renewable carbon and Eco-efficient processes (ISGC-2) was held from May 21-24th 2013 in La Rochelle, FRANCE.

ISGC-2 is the conference about green chemistry, renewable carbon and environmentally responsible processes. Approximately 520 scientists and students engaging in the research areas of green chemistry, together with about 20 representatives from relevant enterprises, attended the conference. 9 plenary lectures, 15 keynotes, and 54 oral communications, as well as 75 flash communications are presented in this conference.

Prof. Tao Zhang delivered a one-hour plenary lecture titled “One-pot Conversion of cellulose to Ethylene Glycol: Insights from the Mechanism Study”. Besides, he was invited to chair the last plenary lecture session. Haile Cai gave an oral presentation titled “Direct production of renewable furan-based diols from carbohydrates via one-pot tandem reactions” and Guangyi Li presented a poster named “Synthesis of renewable diesel or jet fuel with hydroxyacetone and 2-methylfuran” which was awarded as “Green Chemistry poster prize”. In addition, representing the participants from Asia, Prof. Zhang took part in the ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION (totally 7 members from all over the world) during the conference time.
