National Conference on Catalysis of China (NCC) is the largest and most respected academic conference in the field of catalysis in China, covering energy, materials, environmental protection, biology, chemical engineering, and other high-tech fields of fundamental and applied research. The 16th NCC with the theme of "Catalysis Science and Technology for Economic Transition" was held in Shenyang during October 16th to 19th, 2012.

There are 28 persons in our group, including 9 staffs and 20 students, attended this conference. In this conference, Prof. Tao Zhang was invited to give a plenary lecture titled “highly dispersed catalysts- from nano-particle to single atom”. Changzhi Li, Jian Lin, Qingquan Lin and Guangyi Li gave oral presentations, titled as “One-pot catalytic conversion of raw woody biomass into chemicals over supported carbide catalysts”, “FeOx supported Ir single-atom catalysts for water gas shift reaction”, “Highly active and stable gold nanocatalysts supported on LaAlO3-decorated Alumina for CO-PROX reaction”, “Synthesis of renewable diesel with the 2-methylfuran, butanal and acetone derived from lignocellulose”, respectively, while the other students presented 24 posters. Besides, Prof. Aiqin Wang was invited to chair the session of “biomass catalytic conversion”.

In this conference, Dr. Botao Qiao in our group was awarded as “Outstanding young researcher in catalysis”. This is the first time that the Catalysis Society of China awarded this prize, and 10 persons won this honor.
